tips for creativity / writing

I don’t set routines or rituals for myself

sometimes I’ll fall into a routine naturally... just because I’m pulled to it… but I don’t set it ahead of time like “I have to do X everyday”

I am a Sag sun + mani gen in human design though - so I’m designed to… not have rules

routines can be boring (& limit my creativity) after a while

plus, for me… I don’t want to purposely create a habit - that later on may not be what gives me excitement or creativity - so I’d then have to then consciously break it, so create a new one

(we do enough of that with shadow work)

so I wanted to give some tips to keep writing / creativity exciting!

I’m going to use writing as an example - writing is something I’m personally definitely pulled to (it’s a gift for me)

but for you, it may be something else - apply the below to you!

when I feel resistance to work, money, creativity… I like to switch up how I’m doing it

it adds an element of newness + fun… that makes me think + feel differently

so if for example, you’re used to writing / journaling in just sentences

you can try:

  • writing in bulletpoints

  • doodling with phrases or words

  • writing in cursive

  • typing

  • writing shorter or longer than before

  • writing as if you’re writing a novel, poem, letter, fairytale

  • blogging instead of writing straight to social media

or writing in different locations is super fun

you can find inspiration just on the drive there (I do allll the time while driving), what you’re surrounded with, what music you’re drawn to, what you order, what you’re seeing around you, who you come in contact with…

i’ve worked in many different locations + love to set the vibe of how I want the experience to be - so for example, “I want to feel like an editor / writer,” “I want to feel like a boss,” “I want the feeling of X memory”

then also capture a pic of the experience to remember it!

ideas:

  • coffeeshops (obviously) - go to all different ones!

  • libraries + aesthetic old buildings

  • bookstores

  • book an airbnb / hotel, or explore different hotel lobbies

  • wineries, classy bars, or take yourself on a lunch date!

  • outside - at a park, in a bench in your town, while walking or hiking somewhere, pools

  • move / shift where desk is or what direction it faces (literally did this recently & am OBSESSED)

  • create a new vibe with your desk - add new plants / items, place items in different location, etc

keep it fun + interesting! you never know what wisdom you’ll happen upon…
